The Hall of Imperial Longevity

2022
Coauthors: Jeffrey Shaw, Sarah Kenderdine, VFXNova

By employing digital technology and delving into historical archival research, the exhibition aims to recreate, for the first time, the architectural aspects of the Hall of Imperial Longevity and the Lunar New Year ancestral ceremony in which these portraits were revered. Through a large panoramic projection, the audience will be transported to the past, precisely to the first day of the Lunar New Year in 1892. Here, they will have the opportunity to witness the ancestral ritual as enacted by Emperor Guangxu (reigned 1875–1908).
