Double Truth is a circumambulatory system that utilizes the ‘Object Navigator’ visualization platform to present series of photogrammetric models of significant objects from the Bihar Museum in Patna, India, spanning Jain, Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Participants rotate this human-scale visualization platform and in the circumambulation from left to right generate dynamic temporal sequences that reveals nineteen sacred sculptures one-by-one. Each is accompanied by curated ethnographic music recordings from the 1930s through to the 1970s. The reverse rotation of the platform meanwhile reveals unexpected materialities and augmentations. Icons melt, fragment and refold through a series of computer graphics transformations and parametric visualizations.

The work’s digital twins are technologically empowered artefacts that open new avenues of inquiry. They reveal hidden layers, propose new narratives and cultural imaginaries where sculpture becomes both noun and verb. In their patinas, textures, and augmentations, the viewer finds both the object as a representation and something fundamentally new that transcends its originating material properties and enables a meditation on the Two Truths of Mahayana Buddhism of the mundane and absolute.
